Steve Shallhorn
From 2011 to September 2022 Steve was the Executive Director of the Labour Education Centre, (LEC), a project of the Toronto and York Region Labour Council.
Since October 2022 Steve has been the Executive Director of the Working Green 2050 unit within the Labour Education Centre, focusing on creation of green jobs, Just Transition of workers from fossil fuel industries and other high greenhouse gas emitting workplaces, and joint worker management Workplace Emissions Reduction Committees (WERCs) to reduce workplace greenhouse gas emissions.
From 2012-2016 Steve was concurrently the founding Director of the Toronto Community Benefits Network (TCBN), a network of labour and community groups working to ensure that training and green jobs building Toronto’s Light Rail Transit are available to historically disadvantaged communities and equity seeking groups.
While working with Greenpeace for almost 20 years, Steve worked on climate issues in Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan, Australia and the Pacific Islands.
